Guidelines for Using Artificial Intelligence
In recognition of the College of Engineering's commitment to staying up-to-date on new developments and modern tools that may impact the educational process, the following are instructions and guidelines for using artificial intelligence applications:
- Instructor Approval:
Refrain from if the course instructor/lecturer permits using AI applications for solving exercises, writing reports, etc. Before using these applications, you must consult with the course instructor/lecturer to confirm if you can do so and understand the permissible boundaries. - Content Evaluation and Privacy:
If you are allowed to use AI applications, carefully evaluate and critique the content. Outputs from these applications may contain inaccurate or biased information, making them unreliable. Additionally, using AI applications may violate your own privacy (e.g., collecting and sharing your data with third parties). Therefore, exercise caution when using any of these applications. Remember to use trustworthy and secure sources instead. - Proper Citation:
If you are permitted to use content generated by AI applications, indicate where AI was used and cite the information in the text and the reference list. You may use the following format. - Declaration of Using Generative AI Technologies:
preparation of this work, the author(s) used [NAME OF TOOL/SERVICE] to [REASON]. After using this tool/service, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and took full responsibility for the publication's content. - Authorship and Ethical Responsibility:
AI is not considered an author; therefore, any text generated by AI should be attributed to the original authors, with the student bearing full ethical responsibility.
Remember, you hold full ethical responsibility for the originality and accuracy of your work. Violating these guidelines may subject you to accountability by the faculty administration.
