Master of Sciences ‘MSc’ in New and Renewable Energy Engineering

Program Description

The energy and renewable energy program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of energy systems and sustainable practices. It covers a wide range of topics, including traditional energy sources, renewable energy technologies, and their integration into existing infrastructure. Through rigorous coursework, students gain insights into energy generation, distribution, and utilization, particularly renewable sources such as solar, wind, hydro, and biomass. Practical skills in energy efficiency, resource management, and environmental impact assessment are cultivated to prepare graduates for real-world challenges in the energy sector. The program fosters innovation and critical thinking, empowering students to drive forward the transition to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future. Addressing the global imperative for sustainable energy solutions contributes to the development of a skilled workforce capable of tackling the complex energy challenges of the modern world.

Program Competences

The holder of Master of Sciences ‘M.Sc.’ in New and Renewable Energy Engineering must be able to:

1. Understand the energy systems fundamentals of energy generation, transmission, distribution, consumption across various sectors, and limitations of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, and biomass.

2. Distinguish the sustainability principles; Knowledge of sustainability concepts and practices, including energy efficiency, resource conservation, and environmental impact assessment.

3. Able to integrate renewable energy technologies into existing energy systems and infrastructure, considering technical, economic, and regulatory factors, analyzing complex energy-related problems, identifying viable solutions, and making informed decisions based on data and evidence.

4. Create innovative solutions in conducting research, evaluating new technologies, and innovating solutions to advance renewable energy development and implementation.

5. Communicate and share ideas with specialists and non-specialists in both written and oral manner

 

Degree Holders’ Attributes

The Holders of Master of Sciences ‘M.Sc.’ in New and Renewable Energy Engineering:

• Demonstrate a solid understanding of energy systems, renewable energy technologies, and sustainable energy practices. They should be proficient in applying technical knowledge to analyze, design, and optimize renewable energy systems.

• Possess a deep understanding of sustainability principles and their application in the energy sector. They should be able to evaluate the environmental, social, and economic impacts of energy projects and propose sustainable solutions.

• Adapt problem solvers capable of addressing complex challenges in the energy field. They should possess analytical skills to identify energy-related issues, evaluate alternative solutions, and implement effective strategies.

• Demonstrate creativity, innovation, and adaptability in addressing evolving energy needs and technological advancements. They should be able to embrace new ideas, technologies, and approaches to energy generation, distribution, and utilization.

• Evaluate energy policies, regulations, and industry practices. They should be able to assess the validity of information, analyze data, and make informed decisions to promote sustainable energy development.

• Possess strong communication and collaboration skills necessary for engaging with diverse stakeholders in the energy sector. They should be able to effectively communicate technical concepts, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and engage with communities and

policymakers

The Elective courses are grouped into 3 main tracks, as follows:

Track 1: Electrical Power

Track 2: Mechanical Power

Track 3: Advanced Applications

 

Required Courses

Required Courses In order to get a Master of Sciences ‘M.Sc.’ in New and Renewable Energy Engineering, and to satisfy the Program Competences, the following set of courses need to be completed considering that students can register any other course(s) listed in these bylaws as elective(s), however, the advisor has to verify the course(s) learning outcomes with Program competences.
