نبذة مختصرة

Dr. Ahmed Taher Hussin graduated in 2001 from the Mechanical Power Engineering department at Ain Shams University. He joined the same department as a demonstrator and finished his MSc in Mechanical Engineering from the same department in 2006. Then, he joined the University of Leeds in the UK as PhD student. Having obtained his PhD he was appointed at Ain Shams University in 2013 as an assistant professor. Currently, he is an associate professor since 2021,and his research activities are focused on combustion, Heat Engines, Waste Heat Recovery systems and Energy Efficiency.

Research Projects
March 2019 – Present:
A Co-Principal Investigator in a joint research project “Renewable Energy-based Fresh Water Provisioning Technology in Rural Areas of Egypt”, (ReFreshTEC) between Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University and University of Northumbria, the UK, and funded by the British Council and Science & Technology Development Fund, (STDF), Egypt-UK Newton-Musharafa, (£ 77 K):
The project aims at design and commercialize a novel small-scale low-cost Solar/Biomass Thermal Water Pumping system for irrigation and desalinationsectors in Egypt. My role is to manage and ensure the project is properly conducted administratively and scientifically. One paper was published; see section (Publication); journal papers no 2.


Oct. 2015 – Sep. 2017:
A researcher in a joint research project, “Advanced high-efficient power-generation”, funded by Europe-Africa (ERAfrica) and Science and Technology Development Fund, (STDF), (€100 K). My role was supervising the experimental investigation of novel methods to enhance the performance of micro gas turbines; using multi fuels such as hydrogen and biodiesel. Three papers were published; see section (Publication); journal papers 3 and 7 and a conference paper no 1.


Sep. 2014 – Aug. 2016:
A researcher in a research project “Power Generation from the Sun”, funded by Science and Technology Development Fund, (STDF), (750K L.E.). My role was supervising the process of design and modelling the components of an Organic Rankine Cycle powered by solar energy. Two papers were published, see section (Publication); journal papers 5 and 6.


Oct. 2008 – Sep. 2012:
Research Assistant at the combustion lab in the School of Mech. Eng., the University of Leeds, the UK. My role was to investigate experimentally the combustion characterisation (speed of laminar and turbulent flames, and auto-ignition) of synthetic fuels and biofuels for industrial projects funded by Siemens and Shell, see section (Publication); journal papers 8 – 11.


Capacity Building Projects
Sep. 2016 – Dec. 2017:
A team member in a funded capacity building project by TEMPUS,(€ 400K), “Joint master of Mediterranean initiatives on renewable and sustainable energy” My role was to develop postgraduate curriculum for the courses; Energy Storage, Solar, Wind, and Biomass Energy, besides selecting teaching equipment for the renewable energy lab; solar/biomass Organic Rankine Cycle.


Sep. 2013 – Oct. 2015:
A team member in a funded capacity building project by TEMPUS, “Clean Energy and Research in Environmental Studies”, (CERES), (€ 500K). My role is to develop postgraduate curriculum for the course; “Transport Phenomena”, besides selecting teaching equipment for the renewable energy lab; indoor testing solar water heater and wind energy simulator.


Oct. 2008 – Sep. 2012:
Research Assistant at the combustion lab in the School of Mechanical Engineering, the University of Leeds, the UK. My role was to investigate experimentally the combustion characterisation (speed of laminar and turbulent flames, and auto-ignition) of synthetic fuels and biofuels for sponsors come from the automotive industry, fuel manufacturers and power generation, such as Siemens and Shell.
