Prof. Dr. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, attended the Faculty of Engineering's graduation ceremony for the Class of 2026, which included 1,613 male and female engineers. The ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Rami Maher, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Dr. Mohamed Salehien, Vice President of Ain Shams National University for Academic Affairs; Prof. Dr. Mostafa Refaat, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Universities; Prof. Dr. Amr Shaat, Dean of the Faculty; as well as the Faculty's vice deans, faculty members, teaching assistants, and the graduates' parents.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen congratulated the Faculty of Engineering graduates, expressing his happiness at sharing with them one of the most memorable moments of their journey and extending his sincere congratulations after years of hard work, dedication, and ambition. He emphasized that the graduates should take pride in graduating from the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University, a prestigious academic institution that has educated generations of engineers who have contributed, and continue to contribute, to development, construction, and serving the nation.

He explained that throughout their years of study, the Faculty was keen to provide students with knowledge and academic expertise, develop their practical skills and abilities in critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving, and prepare them for the requirements of the labor market and the challenges of the future amid rapid scientific and technological developments.

He also expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Faculty's professors for their dedicated efforts in education, guidance, and support, describing them as the "true partners" in the graduates' journey.

He stressed that graduation is not the end of the road, but rather the beginning of a new phase of learning, work, and responsibility. He called on the graduates to make continuous learning and self-development an integral part of their journey, keep pace with the latest developments in their fields, and remain prepared to learn, adapt, and innovate.

He also congratulated the graduates' families for their major role in supporting and encouraging their children, affirming that the graduates' success is the result of their families' love, support, and patience.

Concluding his speech, he called on the graduates to take pride in what they have achieved and have confidence in their abilities, and to become exemplary ambassadors for Ain Shams University, carrying its name in a manner befitting its history and standing, while embodying the knowledge, values, sense of belonging, and responsibility they acquired during their studies. He wished them a future filled with success, excellence, and meaningful contributions in service of the nation.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Amr Shaat, Dean of the Faculty, emphasized that graduation day is "not the end of the journey, but rather its true beginning," and that the knowledge acquired by the graduates is both a trust and a mission that should be used to serve people and society.

He pointed out that the class is graduating amid significant local and regional competition, noting that around 29,000 engineers are graduating this year from 152 Egyptian engineering educational institutions. He emphasized that the value of an Ain Shams Engineering graduate is measured by the quality of their education and training and by the impact they leave behind. He added that the influence of the Faculty, whose experience spans two centuries, extends across Egypt, the Arab region, and Africa.

As an example of this impact, he highlighted the Julius Nyerere Dam project in Tanzania, which was officially inaugurated in August 2026 through an Egyptian consortium comprising Arab Contractors and Elsewedy Electric, at a cost of approximately $3 billion and with a power generation capacity of 2,115 megawatts. He expressed his pride that two Faculty graduates lead the participating companies: Eng. Wael Hamdy, CEO of Elsewedy Electric Group and a 1995 graduate of the Power and Electrical Machines Engineering Department, and Eng. Heba Abou El Ela, Vice Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company and a 2007 graduate of the Structural Engineering Department.

Prof. Dr. Amr Shaat also reviewed the outcomes of the partnership with the School of Architecture at Mediterranea University in Italy, which began in 2018 and resulted in a double-degree program that has benefited around 100 students. So far, 71 students have graduated, with approximately half of them working in companies and consulting offices in Italy, while 29 students are continuing their studies and are expected to graduate within the next two years. This reflects the Faculty's success in internationalizing engineering education.

At the conclusion of his speech, the Dean addressed the graduates, calling on them to begin a new phase defined by responsibility, achievement, and impact. He reminded them that what they have gained goes beyond academic knowledge to include continuous learning, critical thinking, teamwork, and taking responsibility. He affirmed that the Faculty will always remain their home and that their success is an extension of its own success.

The ceremony witnessed the graduation of 732 graduates in Electrical Engineering disciplines, 425 in Mechanical Engineering, 302 in Civil Engineering, and 154 in Architectural Engineering.
