Ain Shams Engineering Organizes “Makers of Hope” Seminar to Support Egyptian Women and Promote Social Sustainability
As part of the Faculty of Engineering – Ain Shams University’s commitment to promoting concepts of social sustainability and supporting Egyptian women, in line with Egypt Vision 2030, the Faculty’s Conferences Committee, in cooperation with the Grants and Projects Office at Ain Shams University and in coordination with the National Council for Women – Cairo Branch, organized a seminar entitled: “Makers of Hope: Inspiring Stories of Egyptian Women from the Heart of Challenges.” The seminar was held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Grand Library Hall of the Faculty.
The seminar was moderated by Prof. Dr. Hoda Kamal Sosa, Professor of Water Resources Engineering and Head of the Irrigation and Hydraulics Department at the Faculty, and a member of the National Council for Women – Cairo Branch. In her speech, she emphasized that the seminar aimed to present inspiring female role models that spread hope and motivate individuals to overcome challenges and achieve success despite difficulties.
Dr. Om Kolthoum Shalash, Deputy Rapporteur of the National Council for Women – Cairo Branch, highlighted the pivotal role of women in building families and society. She also reviewed the Council’s efforts in supporting and empowering Egyptian women and assisting them in overcoming various challenges.
Dr. Amal Nemer, member of the National Council for Women – Cairo Branch, presented several inspiring examples of women who successfully overcame hardships and achieved remarkable success stories.
Prof. Dr. Suzanne Youssef El-Qalini, former Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Media Advisor to the University President, also shared her personal experience in overcoming challenges, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and education in achieving academic and professional success.
The seminar concluded with honoring the speakers, who received certificates of appreciation from the Conferences Committee at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, followed by commemorative photos in an atmosphere that reflected appreciation for the role of Egyptian women and their effective contributions across various fields of development.
