Student Transfer
Conditions for transfer to the Faculty of Engineering – Ain Shams University
For the academic year 2025/2026
Transferring to Specialized Programs:
- A student must transfer to the first level only from another equivalent level. Students may not transfer from higher levels to the first level.
- The student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 at the general level if his transfer is from the credit hours system or the grade must be "excellent" in the middle year at least if his transfer is from the two-semester system.
- Students who have been expelled from their college for exceeding the maximum number of academic warnings or failures are not allowed to be transferred.
- The student transferring to the specialized programs must be enrolled in the main system at his university.
- The student must have a high school from a school within the geographical scope of Ain Shams University.
- The place of residence of the application must be located within the geographical scope of Ain Shams University.
"This must be proven by the student's national ID card and must be issued more than six months"
- The student is not allowed to change his place of residence to another address outside the geographical scope of Ain Shams University until 12 months have passed since registration in the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University.
- Students from another university within Greater Cairo (Cairo, Shoubra, Helwan, Matareya) are not allowed.
- The student is not allowed to use the university dormitories throughout the period of his studies at the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University.
- The maximum number of students transferred to the first level is 5% of the total number of students at the same level at the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University.
- Applications for applicants are arranged in descending order based on their grades in their first year of study or preparatory year grades if there are two equal students whose high school grades are taken into account.
- To join a specific program, the student's grade must be greater than the minimum score for this program at the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University , while meeting the conditions for joining the program according to the faculty's study regulations.
- The student retains the right to free education throughout the period of his studies in the program of the exact specialization in accordance with the rules governing the study regulations.
Conversion to interdisciplinary programs:
- It is allowed to transfer students from any engineering faculty in any public university to interdisciplinary specialized programs with the payment of separate tuition fees approved by Ain Shams University in the same year of enrollment.
- Students can be transferred from higher levels to level 2, but with a maximum of 57 credits or equivalent in the semester system.
- The student pays an equivalent fee for the courses passed at his home university of two credit hours as administrative fees.
Transfer from Military Colleges:
- The student must have resigned or been dismissed for medical reasons only.
- Transfer from military colleges is accepted only, and transfer from military technical institutes is not accepted.
- To transfer to the general level, the student must have achieved the minimum of the Admission coordination office of the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University (taking into account the rules of geographical distribution) to join the specialized programs or the minimum of the Admission coordination office of the faculties of the engineering sector to join the interdisciplinary programs in the same year in which he obtained the high school.
- To move to a higher level, an equivalence is made for the courses he has passed.
Transfer from non-equivalent colleges:
- The student must have achieved the minimum of the Admission coordination office of the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University (taking into account the rules of geographical distribution) to join the specialized programs or the minimum of the coordination office for the faculties of the engineering sector to join the interdisciplinary programs in the same year in which he obtained the high school.
Applying for a second chance to study at the College of Engineering:
- The high school certificate must be in the Mathematics science division or its equivalent.
- The student’s high qualification must be granted by public and private universities affiliated to the Supreme Council of Universities.
- The student is accepted into interdisciplinary programs only and is not allowed to transfer to specialized programs
