Ain Shams University Faculty of Engineering Celebrates the Success of the Dual Degree Program with Mediterranea University of Italy and the Graduation of Nearly 100 Internationally Qualified Students

As part of Ain Shams University's commitment to expanding international academic cooperation and preparing graduates capable of competing in global markets, the Faculty of Engineering announced the success of its Dual Degree Program with the Faculty of Architecture at Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria. Since its launch in 2018, the program has graduated nearly 100 students, many of whom have successfully entered the European labor market or continued their postgraduate studies abroad.
During his recent academic visit to the Italian university, Prof. Dr. Amr Shaat, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Marwa Khalifa, highlighted the program as one of the most successful examples of international academic collaboration between the two institutions.
He emphasized that the program has effectively transformed the concept of internationalized education into tangible outcomes by enhancing students’ academic qualifications and expanding their professional and research opportunities on a global scale.
The Dual Degree Program enables students to earn both a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from Ain Shams University and a Master’s Degree in Architecture from Mediterranea University, providing graduates with a strong academic foundation and a competitive advantage in international markets.
To date, the program has produced nearly 100 graduates, many of whom are currently employed by leading architectural design firms and consultancy offices across Europe. Others have continued their postgraduate and doctoral studies at European universities, demonstrating their ability to excel in both professional and academic international environments.
Prof. Dr. Shaat noted that these achievements reflect the high quality of education provided by the Faculty of Engineering and its success in preparing graduates equipped with the knowledge, expertise, and skills required to compete globally, in line with Egypt’s vision for developing highly qualified human capital capable of supporting sustainable development.
He further stressed that the partnership between the two universities has extended beyond academic collaboration, contributing to the international visibility of Egyptian students and graduates. A notable example was the participation of faculty members, students, and alumni of the program in the Venice Architecture Biennale 2023 through the NiLab project, which received significant international recognition.
The Dean concluded by affirming that this achievement reflects the creativity, excellence, and global competitiveness of Ain Shams Engineering students and graduates, highlighting their ability to succeed and make meaningful contributions in prestigious international academic and professional arenas.
