Ain Shams Engineering Organizes “The WOW Factor” Seminar to Enhance Architectural Creativity and Bridge Academia with Professional Practice
As part of the Faculty of Engineering – Ain Shams University’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the integration between academic study and professional practice, and to provide opportunities for direct dialogue with experts and specialists in the fields of architecture and design, the Faculty’s Conferences Committee organized a seminar entitled “The WOW Factor: How Architects Make Statements” on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the Seminar Hall in the Library Building.
The seminar was delivered by Architect Natalie Hanin, Design Director and Partner at Ökoplan Engineering Consultations. During her lecture, she discussed the concept of “architectural statements” and how architects can create impactful works by combining creativity and functionality, while maintaining a deep understanding of both the urban and human contexts of projects. The lecture also featured a number of case studies and experiences drawn from professional practice.
The speaker further highlighted the role of design concepts in shaping the visual identity of projects, emphasizing the importance of details and innovation in enhancing the quality of architectural experiences. She also addressed the challenges architects face in achieving a balance between aesthetic and functional aspects in design.
The seminar witnessed notable engagement from attendees, as students participated in a rich discussion with the speaker regarding design processes and various professional experiences. The event concluded with an open session that provided participants with the opportunity to continue discussions and exchange experiences.
