In a festive atmosphere filled with creativity and innovation, the Department of Urban Design and Planning at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, concluded the activities of the (Bishara Legacy) competition, which was held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Amr Abdel Salam Shaat - Dean of the Faculty. The Seminar Hall at the Library Building witnessed (on Sunday, October 25, 2026) the awards distribution ceremony and the opening of the final projects exhibition.

The competition was held within the framework of enhancing cooperation between the academic and industrial sectors, in cooperation with Bishara Textiles and Fashion Company, headed by Ms. Marie Louis Bishara - Chairperson of the Board of Directors, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Germine Farouk El-Gohary - Head of the Department of Urban Design and Planning, and with the efforts of the organizing committee consisting of Dr. Ashraf Naseem and Dr. Karim Bayoumi.

The ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Amr Abdel Salam Shaat - Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Marwa Abou El-Fotouh Khalifa - Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Dr. Hazem El-Daly - Head of the Architecture Department, alongside an elite group of faculty members and participating students from various universities.

During the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Germine El-Gohary reviewed the stages of the competition since its launch, pointing out the significant turnout it witnessed with the participation of 62 teams from 17 Egyptian universities, of which 18 projects qualified for the final evaluation.

For his part, Prof. Dr. Amr Abdel Salam Shaat – Dean of the Faculty, expressed his happiness with this student momentum and fruitful cooperation between Egyptian universities, emphasizing the role of these competitions in linking education and scientific research with realistic industry needs. Prof. Dr. Marwa Abou El-Fotouh Khalifa – Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research – also praised the successful partnership between the department and Bishara factories, and the architectural visions presented by the students based on the concept of sustainability. In turn, Ms. Marie Louis Bishara expressed her appreciation for "Ain Shams Engineering", affirming the institution's keenness to support the energies of architecture students and turn their creative ideas into reality.

The competition results crowned the winning teams as follows:

• First Prize: "Studio 6" Team – Department of Architecture – Faculty of Engineering – Ain Shams University.
• Second Prize: "Studio Loom" Team – Student participation between Galala University, Ain Shams University, and Cairo University.
• Third Prize: "Athar" Team – Capital University.

Appreciation and Encouragement Awards:

• First Appreciation Prize: "The Sixth Dimension" Team – Alexandria University.
• Second Appreciation Prize: "The Quadra" Team – Alexandria University.
• First Encouragement Prize: "Re-act" Team – Ain Shams University.
• Second Encouragement Prize: "Atelier Samar" Team – Cairo University.

The activities concluded with the screening of a documentary film documenting the journey of the competition, and taking commemorative photos amidst an atmosphere of pride and joy, reaffirming "Ain Shams Engineering's" pioneering role in supporting innovation and sustainability and solidifying partnership with the industrial sector.
