On Thursday, June 11, 2026, the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University hosted the meeting of the Engineering Studies Sector Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Hany Helal, Former Minister of Higher Education and Chairman of the Committee, and attended by Prof. Dr. Sherine Wahba, Committee Secretary, along with the deans of engineering faculties from public and private universities and a distinguished group of experts and specialists in the engineering field.

The meeting commenced with a welcoming speech delivered by Prof. Dr. Amr Abdel Salam Shaat, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, who expressed his pride in hosting this significant academic event. He emphasized the vital role played by the Engineering Studies Sector Committee in supporting the development of engineering education and enhancing its ability to keep pace with rapid changes and future requirements.

Following the opening remarks, the committee proceeded to discuss the items on its agenda. The meeting witnessed constructive dialogue and an exchange of perspectives and expertise on several strategic and pivotal issues related to the advancement of the engineering sector, the enhancement of engineering education quality, and the strengthening of the competitiveness of academic institutions in line with national objectives and modern global trends.

The meeting was held as part of the Supreme Council of Universities’ ongoing commitment to promoting coordination and integration among higher education institutions, thereby supporting academic development efforts and improving the outcomes of engineering education in Egypt.
