Waste to Energy


Climate change concerns contributed to significant debates on fossil fuels utilization and motivated the search for alternative and cleaner sources of energy. Waste-to-Energy is the process that can produce solids, liquid or gaseous fuels from waste, which can be utilized for thermal energy or electricity generation, while offering a win-win strategy to combat waste accumulation and energy security. Through this research area, waste-to-energy technologies are investigated for several waste streams including municipal solid waste, agricultural waste and sludge.
