Visit of the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture at the Lebanese University to the Faculty of Engineering - Ain Shams University


Professor Omar Elhusseiny, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering - Ain Shams University, welcomed Professor Hicham Zeineddine, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture at the Lebanese University in Beirut, and discussed with him the possibilities and modalities of scientific cooperation between Ain Shams University and the Lebanese University in the domains of urban design, landscape and environmental design and site coordination for undergraduate and postgraduate studies. This visit was a follow-up and an extension of a workshop that was held as part of the summer training for students of the Architecture and Urbanism Program in its different specializations from the Faculty of Engineering Ain Shams University during summer 2023 under the theme "Visual Identity of the city of Sidon."

Professor Omar Elhusseiny emphasized the importance of scientific exchange among the Mediterranean region and the study of common urban issues and finding solutions that suit each urban context.

Professor Hicham Zeineddine also expressed his interest in enhancing cooperation between the two universities to share expertise and foster scientific exchange at the level of students and faculty members.

The meeting was attended by Professor Ahmed Moneeb Elsabbagh, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, Professor Akram Farouk, Vice Dean for Environmental and Community Affairs, Professor Mohammed Abdel Karim Salheen, Head of Urban Design and Urban Planning Department, Marwa Abo Elfetouh and Noha Gamal Said, professors in the Urban Design and Urban Planning Department, and organizers of the workshop in Lebanon. Professor Mohamed El-Fayoumi, Professor Ahmed Sami, and Associate Professor Samy Afifi, coordinators of specialized and interdisciplinary architectural and urban programs, contributed to developing the general framework for scientific exchange.

Professor Hicham Zeineddine visited the urban department and the related laboratories: IUSD, IMaREC, Sound Lab, and Smart Cities Lab, accompanied by specialized professors.
