Fiber Based Laser Systems
In this direction we are mainly interested in the development of fiber based laser systems for the sensor and telecomm. Application. The group is focusing on the developmet of a tunable / swept laser source for biomedical application and we acheiveeda world record for the swept laser source of the widest sweeping range. In addition we were the first to demonstrat a tunable random laser with a very wide spectral tuning range (> 70 nm) keeping a very low laser linewidth < 4kHz over all the tuning range. This opens the door for many biomedical applications. In addition we are also working on the development of a ring laser gyroscope based on the use of a fiber and semiconductor optical amplifier solution.
