Internationalization, Stretching, Overlapping and a transdisciplinary approach

The 2018-19 academic year was one during which the members and students of the newly enlarged Credit Hours Programmes, started to stretch into the opportunities of the programmes increased breadth and depth. We spent time with blue-sky strategic thinking, synchronized with the support of the Faculty administration and the tactical planning. Our academic portfolio was able to extend into ‘Internationalization’. Now our students graduate with DUAL DEGREES in the majority of the programmes offered. The strategic partnership with our International counterparts started earlier on research based collaborative actions, this was smoothly translated in 2018 to extend into offering our students the same quality of undergraduate education and services on campus. This allowed the ‘Credit Hours Programs’ to transform into the ‘International Credit Hour Programs’.

Our staff members  participated in numerous discussions focusing on developing new and improved systems of shared operationalizing, building on our best practices and maximum inclusivity. Faculty and students increased overlaps and aspirations in research and education, participating in more transdisciplinary projects, industry engagement, classes and public service projects.

Via our developing facilities that are continuously switching make ups, it is obvious to notice the significance of casual and planned interactions among the various specializations and study tracks. The result of this environment are ideas about new paths for students through multiple degree programs, either sequentially, overlapping or combined. This fuelled up the potential of availing our academic curricula  for continuing education, pursuing professional development for graduates and practitioners. This became possible via our synchronic courses development with our partnering industrial partners via an annual summit, making our study tracks valuable and attractive at all levels.  

As we talked about who we are now and our potential future, it was apparent that if we couldn’t easily diagram our organization relationships and tasks, and the development of the students data systems we couldn’t be able to spot the overlaps and gaps. Thus I would like to thank the Credit Hours previous administrations since its start in 2006, their continuous development  helped us now to step forward. At last, I would like to assure that the International Credit Hours Programs will be continuously leaping ahead with the support of the University and  Faculty of Engineering administration  and the enthusiasm of its students.
