Overview
About GESR
Since 2017, the Faculty of Engineering (FoEng) at Ain Shams University (ASU) has expanded its higher education opportunities and initiating a new innovative, interdisciplinary postgraduate study track. These master programs are run in parallel to the specialized tracks offered by the academic departments in the faculty. Thus, they are the first of their kind in Egypt because so far master programs were tied to departments and thus per definition not interdisciplinary. The interdisciplinary track aims at creating new knowledge across a broad array of disciplines to respond to current societal and market needs. Furthermore, it shall enhance the level of participation in research, dissemination, and preservation of knowledge for both academic and societal development. In order to run and manage the new developed interdisciplinary track in a smooth and efficient manner, FoEng has established the Graduate Engineering School for Research (GESR) – an institutional structure affiliated to the Vice Director of Postgraduate Affairs and Research – which aims at not only managing the running interdisciplinary Master programs but also fostering the development of other interdisciplinary Master programs that serves the need in the Egyptian context and beyond.
With the issuing of the NEW Bylaws of Postgraduate Programs – September 2024, the Faculty of Engineering through its Graduate Engineering School for Research (GESR) proudly offers 3 Interdisciplinary programs, with different degrees M.Sc., M.Eng., and D Eng., as follows
