Concrete Technology
What Will Learn?
-
Course AimsThe aim of this course is to provide students with the needed knowledge and skills, which enable them to have a clear understanding of concrete constituents, differentiate between the different types of each constituent, identify the properties, and be aware of testing methods of each constituent, comprehend the properties and testing methods of concrete in the fresh and hardened stages, judge the fresh and hardened concrete quality, and overview the different alternatives for specific job conditions.

English Description
Properties of fresh concrete: Consistency, Workability, Cohesion, Segregation and bleeding. Properties of hardened concrete (compressive, tensile, flexural, shear, and bond strengths). Concrete mix design methods. Concrete manufacturing (approval of materials source, storage, batching and mixing, transportation, pouring, compacting, curing, Construction joints and formwork). Statistical analysis to judge the concrete quality. Hot weather concreting (definition, Problems, and Precautions). Volumetric changes of concrete (elasticity and Creep). Durability of concrete. Non-destructive testing (Rebound hammer, Ultrasonic Pulse velocity, Core, Steel detection and Radiation). -
