What Will Learn?

Course AimsBy the end of the course the students will be able to: Define the idea underpinning the definition of architectural and urban Heritage Differentiate between architectural heritage and urban heritage and to determine the underlying socio-spatial mechanism Discuss Methods necessary for the researching and assessing of architecture and/or urban heritage and their significances Recognize different criteria for classifying and documenting this heritage Distinguish difference between principles of preservation, restoration, and conservation of architectural heritage Identify principles of rehabilitation, regeneration, gentrification for urban heritage Analyze of problems that might mishandle with the urban heritage area Conclude lacks between theory and practice Apply these principles and practices appropriately in practice Develop practical skills in this scope

The course introduces different criteria for identification, classification, documentation and levels of conservation. Students will identify urban and environmental threats: spaces, negligence and lack of maintenance and deterioration significances. They will also recognize the principles and degrees of conservation and techniques of restoration for urban architectural heritage, and the ways to deals with heritage in the urban context
