What Will Learn?

Course AimsBy the end of the course the students will be able to: • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of power system protection fundamentals, protection of different power system components, and protective devices coordination. • To demonstrate knowledge and understanding of overvoltages in electrical power systems with the suitable protection schemes. • To increase the student's essential understanding for performing system insulation design with adequate reliability at a minimum cost. • The student shall attain the above mentioned objectives efficiently under controlled guidance and supervision while gaining the experience through application and analysis of realistic power system data.

Basic elements of protection gear, Current and potential transformers, Protective relays: Electromechanical, static and digital relays. Different types of electromechanical relays. Types of protection systems: Overcurrent protection, distance protection, differential protection, directional power protection, etc. Protection of different components in power system: Transformer protection, Transmission line protection, Generator Protection, etc. -
