Course AimsThe aim of this course is to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills needed to apply participatory approaches in urban development, focusing on sustainable community development and project planning. By integrating theory with practice, the course explores tools and techniques to address urban challenges and formulate city strategies. Emphasis is placed on engaging diverse stakeholders throughout the decision-making process, empowering local communities and governments, and fostering collaborative alliances. Students will develop a critical understanding of participation models, methods, and ethical considerations, enabling them to create inclusive and effective solutions to urban issues.

This course introduces participatory approaches for urban development with practical applications of methods used in project planning and sustainable community development. The course illustrates a set of tools and techniques for the integration of theory and the community participation practices among urban challenges and city strategies. The course focuses on the importance of involvement of different stakeholders throughout the decision-making process and focuses on strategies to empower local community and local government.
