Brief

Mostafa earned his Bachelor degree in Architecture Engineering from Ain Shams University in 1994 with distinction and honours. He holds his Ph.D. from the School of Architecture and Building Engineering, at the University of Liverpool, UK in 2003, where he worked as part time Lecturer and researcher in support of numerous research projects at the Acoustic Research Unit until 2006. Mostafa is certified by the Institute of Acoustic-UK as CCWNRA and CCENM for workplace noise assessment and environmental noise, for which he taught the certification at accredited centres across the UK. He worked at EPSRC funded projects in the UK in partnership with Arup & Partners for developing novel applications for Acoustic insulation, in conjunction with the engagement in Acoustic consultancy services in the UK, and worldwide. Mostafa taught many courses related to architectural Building Services and technical installations at many European and Egyptian Universities at Undergraduate and Postgraduate Levels. His research in Noise propagation in the Urban Fabric theories helped in developing the prediction tools and models implemented in current software packages producing noise maps. Back in Egypt 2009, he served as the General Manager for the Technical Affairs Department, New Urban Communities Authority NUCA, Ministry if Housing and Urban Development, EGYPT. He developed as well the curricula for the Architecture Engineering department at the British University in Egypt, with the University of Loughborough where he acted as programme director until 2014. He is the founder of the Environmental Architecture and Urbanism ENVR programme with colleagues at Ain Shams, where he served as Unit Head for three years, as well as Vice Director for the Credit Hours programme. He was appointed as Director for the Credit Hour programmes in 2018, at that time he founded the Dual Degree tracks for the Credit Hour programmes with the University of East London, and serves as the Director of the International Collaboration office at the Faculty of Engineering.
He is Principal Investigator to numerous funded research projects partnering with academic institutions in the UK, France, Italy, and Germany, and Egyptian research and academic institutes. He practices as well Acoustic consultancy and building services via his founded firm in Egypt.
He published numerous papers in Journals and international conferences, as well as contributions to books.
He is a Visiting Scholar, School of Architecture, University of Liverpool. UK. He reviews for several International and national journals. Parallel to his engagements Mostafa currently serves as Professor of Architecture at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, where he continues to lecture Architecture Design and Graduation Projects.
His area of research includes Acoustics, sound transfer, outdoor noise propagation, Sustainable Design, Energy transfer modelling, Building Performance, and experimental scale modelling.
