Brief
Dr. Osama received his PhD in Transportation Engineering from the University of British Columbia (UBC), where he had been a research assistant at the Bureau of Intelligent Transportation Systems and Freight Security. His research focused on improving the safety planning of sustainable modes of transportation and vulnerable road users. Prior to studies at UBC, Ahmed Osama completed his MSc in public transportation at Ain Shams University while pursuing practical experience as a transportation engineer in the world-renowned Dar Al-Handasah consultants.
He authored/co-authored more than 15 publications; His work gained him awards from the Institute of Transportation Engineers, UBC, Canadian Transportation Research Forum, and Transport Canada.
Dr. Osama had participated in several traffic safety projects within Canada (Vancouver, Edmonton, and Surrey) and abroad (Adelaide and Doha). As a consultant, he was involved in crowd management projects in El Masjid El-Nabawi and Mecca. He also participated in developing the Egyptian E-Mobility Strategy in cooperation with the EBRD as well as supervising, with UN Habitat, the first Egyptian Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan for the New Urban Communities Authority.
