Info session on Sawiris-Penn Scholarship for undergraduate students


Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Omar Elhosseiny, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Elsabbagh, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, the international collaboration office has organized an Info session on Sawiris-Penn scholarship for undergraduate students on Monday, December 11, 2023, in the presence of Amy Gadsden, Associate Vice Provost for Global Initiatives at University of Pennsylvania, representatives of the international collaboration, academic advisors for International International Students in addition to representatives from Sawiris foundation for social development. 
The session was opened with welcoming words of Prof. Dr. Omar Elhosseiny, Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Elsabbagh, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, who emphasized on the importance of academic and cultural exchange between the two universities and its impact on changing the students’ concept and vision and reshaping their personalities during their studies abroad.
The presentation included details of the Pennsylvania scholarship, registration requirements, and application for the scholarship, as well as a brief overview of the educational and cultural activities that students will participate in during their studies at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Angie Eldamak and Dr. Noha Gamal Said, coordinators of the International Collaboration Office at the Faculty, explained that this scholarship is an important opportunity for the students as it is a full scholarship - covering tuition fees, travel, accommodation, and living expenses. They also mentioned the requirements for students to travel abroad and how to choose the courses that can be studied at the University of Pennsylvania.
The info-session witnessed the presence of a large number of students that want to apply for the scholarship. In addition, the students who received the UPenn scholarship for the academic year 2022/2023 have participated in the session. They talked about their scientific and cultural experiences and praised the advantages of this scholarship and encouraged students to apply in the scholarship for the academic year 2024/2025.
