The Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Omar Elhosseiny, Dean of the Faculty, and organized by the International Collaboration Office, received a delegation from Xi'an University from China. The delegation includes Prof. Dr. Zhang Xiaohui, Vice President of the University, Deans of the Colleges of Arts and Architecture at Xi'an University in China, and representatives of the University's International Collaboration Office.
The meeting was attended by the heads of the departments of architecture, urban design and urban planning, and the coordinators of the international and interdisciplinary programs for the undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the Faculty of Engineering to discuss ways of cooperation between the two universities.
During the meeting, they discussed the educational process for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the specialized and interdisciplinary programs in the field of architecture and urban design at the Faculty of Engineering and their equivalents at Xi'an University in China. Each university presented the research centers, laboratories, student and research production, in addition to the various research projects and axes, in order to identify the areas of cooperation and the possible scientific activities between the two universities: workshops, seminars, student exchange, and the reception of visiting professors from both sides, in order to reach the common areas for achieving scientific cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Omar Elhosseiny, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Prof. Dr. Zhang Xiaohui, Vice President of Xi'an University in China, confirmed the importance of establishing a scientific cooperation between the two universities due to the existence of a common scientific territory in architecture and urbanism mainly in the domain of heritage and historical cities in Egypt and China.
After that, the Chinese team visited to the departments of architecture, urban design and urban planning, the Integrated Urbanism and Sustainable Design program (IUSD), education halls, amphitheaters and the design studios. They also visited Luban workshops and praised the modern technologies and scientific openness that the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University adopts in the engineering education.
