Reception of New Students Enrolled in Specialized Programs at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University


The Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, organized an introductory lecture for new students at the general level in specialized programs for the academic year 2023-2024 on Monday 25 September 2023, under the supervision of Professor Omar ElHusseiny, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Ain Shams University, and Professor Ahmed Moneeb ElSabbagh, Vice Dean for Education and Students Affairs.
The symposium began with a speech by Professor Ahmed Moneeb ElSabbagh, Vice Dean for Education and Students Affairs, in which he conveyed the welcome and congratulations of Professor Omar ElHusseiny, Dean of the Faculty, to the new students on joining the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, which has a prestigious position at the faculties of engineering at the local and international levels. Professor Ahmed Moneeb ElSabbagh welcomed new students and introduced them to the credit-hour system in addition to the new bylaws, regulations, sources of learning, and training to gain skills and qualify the graduate for the local and international labor market. 
The symposium included a speech by Professor Khaled Kirah, Director of Specialized Programs, and Associate Professor Waleed Abdelmoniem Zein, Deputy Director of Specialized Programs, at which they reviewed in detail the bylaws, academic advising system, and tools available to students, the identification of rights and duties, and emphasized the importance of communicating with the academic advisors as their reference in explaining regulations, selecting appropriate courses, and completing graduation requirements. The speech highlighted the available resources to students, training opportunities, counseling, and student support services.
Associate Professor Ahmed Ragheb, Coordinator of Student Activities, spoke about all student activities and committees of the Students Union, Youth Care, Social Solidarity, and Fund and Support Center for Students with Special Needs, noting the interest and support of the faculty administration of all skills and participation in international and local competitions, highlighting that student activities are an integral part of university life. In his speech, a summary of the various activities organized under the supervision of the faculty administration was also reviewed, such as organizing the graduation ceremony, the collective breakfast in Ramadan, talent discovery and competition, visiting tourist places, and entertainment trips.
The symposium was attended by department heads, academic advisors of several programs, academic staff and employees, Student Union representatives, and new students. The symposium ended with an interactive session during which questions and queries were answered. The event also included a field tour of the faculty, during which students were briefed on some of the facilities and laboratories and took several photographs.
