Control of Thermal Environment
What Will Learn?
-
Course AimsThe course aims at educating students the fundamentals of thermal environment in relation to external environmental factors and human thermal comfort requirements. The course targets at developing students awareness of thermal comfort factors, indices and impacts of climatic factors on thermal environment in a manner that helps founding the architects’ responsibility towards the built environments they create. It enhances such foundation and responsibility based on understanding how to create responsive environments that responds to its surrounding environment to provide thermal comfort passively, yet saves energy in a sustainable manner. The impacts of building site, orientation, form, envelope and spaces’ zoning are all studied to be considered in an environment- friendly approach, based on diagnosing ambient thermal stress and suggesting proper passive strategies accordingly.
