Inelastic behavior of compression members & beams, flexible and rigid connections. Types of structures subjected to fluctuating stresses (Fatigue). Introduction to fracture mechanics (Stress concentration factor, stress intensity factor, Fracture toughness). Fatigue assessment of structures (Fatigue life prediction, Detail category, stress range, S-N curves). Effect of fire on steel structures. Protection of steel members against fire. Resistance of unprotected steel structural members. -
