Design and Behavior of Steel Structures (2)
What Will Learn?
-
Course AimsThe aim of this course is to provide students with the needed knowledge and skills, which enable them to: - Extending the knowledge of the civil engineering students about the structural and material behavior to cover the design of various steel elements, steel members connections and their details and the fabrication and erection of steel members and structures. - Getting the students closer to applicable design problems related to steel structures. - Building the students’ engineering design sense through different practical applications. - Providing the required training for students on how to establish a fully detailed steel drawings for different steel members and connections.

English Description
Design of Eccentric connections (I) : Bolted and welded connections subjected to in-plane torsion and shear. Design of Eccentric connections (II) : Bolted and welded rigid moment connections (welded beam-to-column flange connection, extended end plate connection, flushed end plate connection). Check of stresses for Column Flange local buckling (Tension zone), web local yielding and web crippling, shear panel zone. Design of crane track girders, built-up columns with lacing bars and/or batten plates. Design of Portal frames and bases, bracing members, end gable columns (beam-column), cold-formed side and end girts, and steel stairs. -
