Introduction to bioinformatics. Fundamental molecular biology, Biological databases. Sequence analysis. Mathematical and algorithmic models of underlying bioinformatics. String distance and dynamic programming. Pairwise sequence alignment: Needleman-Wunsch, GLOBAL alignment, Local alignment, Smith-Waterman. Alignment scores: Constant, Linear, Affine gap, Gene prediction, Hidden Markov model. Multiple sequence alignment. Phylogenetic trees. DNA feature extractions. Microarray technology and analysis. Applications in molecular biology and genetics. Common bioinformatics tools. -
