The ASU ASHRAE team won first place locally and regionally in the ASHRAE Student Design Competition global competition

A team from the Faculty of Engineering Ain Shams University Department of Mechanical Power Engineering participated in the international competition of the the ASHRAE Student Design Competition 2023 which is held every year among many international universities.
A team of undergraduate students, Yassmin Samy Mohamed, Omar Attia Mohamed, Mohanad Sayed Abdelbaqi, Omar Diaa Abdrabou, Abdelrahman Samir Abdelmoaty, Omar Hassan Sabry, under the supervision of Dr. Hany Elsayed Abdel Halim Saad, Associate Professor at Mechanical Power Engineering and Engineer Ahmed Lachin (ASU ASHRAE team) designs the air conditioning and ventilation works for a new laboratory building in a research center located in Cairo in line with modern systems, achieving environmental requirements, reducing emissions and the ability to reduce energy consumption while choosing the right system to achieve the principle of sustainability with the lowest price during operation for 50 years.  A model of energy consumption was created and some rooms were simulated using computational fluid dynamics to ensure the efficiency and correctness of the design.
By achieving all the above expected for the building, the "Platinum" classification was achieved according to the classification  of US Green Building Council's LEED "LEADERSHIP IN ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN"
The team has obtained the first place at the local level "Egypt" and the regional "Africa and Asia" and the Rising Star at the global level, superior to a number of international universities and the ranking was as follows:
