What Will Learn?

Course AimsBy the end of the course the students will be able to: • Provide the student with an understanding of what is meant by Database systems and Database Management Systems • Teach the student how to design database with different techniques • Provide the student with an understanding of entity-relationship diagrams and relational database. • Teach the student how to use SQL language to create and manipulate database systems. • Train the student to share ideas and work in a team effectively and independently. • Perform laboratory experiments to measure understanding of theoretical principal.

Introduction to database systems. Database design theory and methodology. Entity/Relationship model (ERM) and enhanced Entity/Relationship model (EERM). Functional dependency and normalization for relational database. Relational model: Domain, Relations, Relational integrity. SQL. The relational database language standard: Data definition language, Data manipulation language, Aggregate functions, Views, Database modification, Database Management System (DMS). -
