Classification of Engineering materials: metals, polymers, ceramics, and composites. The internal structure of the material: atomic structure, microstructure, and macrostructure. Material properties: physical, chemical, mechanical, electrical, thermal, and optical properties. Fundamentals of the structure-property relationship in materials. Solidification of solutions, Phase diagrams, and iron-carbon diagram. Ferreous metals, Nonferrous metals Aluminum, copper and Magnesium. Materials and environment. Materials and corrosion. -
