What Will Learn?

Course AimsThe aim of this course is to provide students with background necessary to: • Determine and analyze the various loads and stresses acting on various mechanical structures. • Determine the strains, deformations, slopes and deflections of mechanical structures. • Analyze the thermal stresses acting on different mechanical parts in addition to calculating stresses on thin and thick-walled pressurized vessels.

Introduction to stress analysis, Loading Diagrams, General concepts of Stress and Strain, Types of Stresses: Normal and Shear Stresses, Combined and principle Stresses, Cyclic stresses. Theories of Elastic Failure, Deflection, Buckling, Thin and Thick wall pressurized vessels and Thermal Stresses (applications on different mechanical parts subjected to thermal stresses). -
