Course AimsStudents successfully completing MDP 152 will gain the following • A basic view of the importance of standardization, mechanical testing and inspections • A qualitative view of the elastic, plastic and fracture features of different materials • Practical ability to perform different mechanical testing to determine material properties • Realize the relation between metallurgy features and properties of materials • Assess the properties of materials under different types of loading • A deep knowledge about different kind of loading & service conditions

Applying the safety precautions in Laboratory. Classification of Standards & Standard organizations. Mechanical behavior of materials under different types of load. Applying different mechanical testing methods with specific reference standards: tension, compression, bending, shear, hardness, mechanical wear, impact, fatigue and creep. Applying the test cycle concept for each mechanical testing method. Non- Destructive Testing of materials (NDT). Main types of materials fracture, ductile & brittle. Heat treatment of ferrous & non- ferrous alloys. Strengthening mechanisms of materials. Materials selection. -
