Hydraulics and Pneumatics Control
What Will Learn?
-
Course AimsBy the end of the course the students will be able to: 1. Demonstrate knowledge of hydraulic power transmission and storage of energy for both the hydrostatic and the hydrodynamic systems 2. Describe the different types of hydraulic and pneumatic systems components. 3. Define, understand and solve problems in hydraulic and pneumatic power transmission systems, in many engineering applications 4. Share ideas and work in a team in an efficient and effective manner under controlled supervision

English Description
Introduction and fundamentals of fluidic control systems, applications of pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Hydraulic control system components: power units, reservoirs, filters, piping and hoses, accumulators, pumps (positive versus non-positive displacement pumps, vane pumps, gear pumps, variable displacement pumps, piston pumps, swashplate pumps, pump control systems), valves (spool valve, poppet valve, pilot-operated valves, pressure control valves, flow control valves, check valves, proportional valves, actuators (motors and cylinders). Case studies from industry such as: heavy and earthmoving equipment hydraulic circuits, hydraulic press circuits, ….etc. Pneumatic systems: service unit, compressors, filters, air dryers, lubricators, pressure regulation valves, control valves, etc., electro-pneumatic circuits. Examples on pneumatic circuits from industry and production systems. Using simulation software packages for hydraulic and pneumatic circuits simulation and design such as Automation studio, ……etc. There will be labs and mini-projects to apply the topics learned in the course -
