Course AimsThis course aims to: • Describe cloud computing, its deployment and service models • Describe the cloud computing reference model and the key considerations to build a cloud infrastructure • Describe the key components and processes required to build physical, virtual, control, and service layers of a cloud infrastructure • Describe the service orchestration, business continuity, security, and service management functions for a cloud infrastructure • The student shall attain the above mentioned objectives efficiently under controlled guidance and supervision.

Cloud computing models, techniques, and architectures, ETSI NFV Model, Network function virtualization. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS): Resource virtualization, Server, Storage, Network, Hypervisor types, Data center Virtualization, GuestOS, HostOS, CloudOS, Software-defined storage, Disk arrays, Virtual Private Networking (VPN), Cloud availability zones and regions, Openstack (hypervisor manager layer). Platform as a Service (PaaS): Cloud platform and management, Computation, Storage, Case studies, Containers, Containerized APPs deployment, Kubernetes containers management, Platforms, Bare-metal containers deployment. Software as a Service (SaaS): Web cloud services, Case studies. Cloud-based software systems. Cloud issues: Provider lock-in, Security. Key cloud service providers and platforms. Creating own cloud services. Cloud deployment and service models, Cloud infrastructure, Migration to cloud computing environments. Traditional and virtualized cloud data center environments.
