Overview of existing High-Performance Computing (HPC) software and hardware. Design of HPC systems: Shared-memory, Message-passing multiprocessors, Vector systems. Modern computer architectures: Branch prediction, Out-Of-Order (OOO) instruction execution, Cache optimizations, Multi-level caches, Memory and storage, Cache coherence and consistency, and Multi- and many-core processors. Parallel processing with Graphical Processing Units (GPUs). Interconnect. Communication. Memory organization. Programming models. Thread organization. -
