Water and Wastewater Management in Ancient Alexandria


Within the framework of the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University’s interest in the concepts of sustainability and preserving water resources, the Conferences Committee organized a seminar on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, titled: 
"Water and Wastewater Management in Ancient Alexandria"
The seminar was presented by Mrs. Stavroula Spanoudi, MSc. The Director of the Helenic Foundation for Culture – Annex of Alexandria, and was attended by a number of faculty members, teaching assistants, and students. 
The seminar revealed how the problem of fresh water shortage and groundwater salinity was resolved in ancient Alexandria by creating underground reservoirs to collect rain and flood water and use it throughout the year.
